What is all that Techno-Stuff next to Steve?
WMC Memphis provides one of the finest digital
broadcasting facilities in the world and we don't
mind bragging about it a little...
| 1 | Call monitor. Displays caller name, time on hold, time on air, and a short subject line. Also allows Board Operator to type comments to Steve during the show. |
| 2 | Associated Press live news feed. |
| 3 | Digital audio system with touchscreen. This is where Steve controls the dozens of sounds that make up each InternetTalk program. |
| 4 | Electro-Voice Re-22 microphone. Simply the best available for radio broadcasting. |
| 5 | Computer controlled system clock. This is the
master clock that everything (and everybody) in the station is in synch with. |
| 6 | Master Console. This is the location for various
controls used by Steve during the show. From left; microphone mute buttons, on-air and delay-on indicators, various timers, and routing switches. |
| 7 | Phone Console. As many as 20 incoming lines can controlled easily from this panel, allowing instant phone conferencing on-air/off-air as required. |
| 8 | Mini ASCII keyboard. Similar to a laptop computer keyboard. Used to control the Digital Audio System and the live newsfeed. |
| 9 | Multi-line LCD telephone with speakerphone. |
| 10 | Steve Cox's brain. Encased in Sony headphones. |
