A Couple of Quick Virus Tips

Many times throughout the year we receive email from a caring friend about a "destructive virus". Before you forward the message to all your friends, check-out the validity of the supposed virus. It may be a hoax.
Here's a couple of links that you can check out current hoaxes:

If you own virus protection software, it needs frequent updating (about once a month) because there are new viruses being created all the time. Some virus protection software companies allow you to download these updates directly from their website.

Likewise, if you're considering purchasing a virus protection package, look into the ease of updating your software and any associated costs.

On the Light Side..... (couple of funny things I found in putting this segment together).
The latest breaking news on the GOODTIMES virus.

It turns out that this so-called hoax virus is very dangerous after all. Goodtimes will re-write your hard drive. Not only that, it will scramble any disks that are even close to your computer. It will mess-up the tracking on your television and use subspace field harmonics to scratch any CDs you try to play. It will give your ex-girlfriend your new phone number AND It will drink all your beer and leave dirty socks on the coffee table when company comes over. Running late for work? Goodtimes will hide your car keys. It will even move your car randomly around parking lots so you can't find it.

Photo of Michaelangelo Virus - This picture was taken with a scanning-tunneling microscope and is the first known picture of an actual computer virus. The picture is somewhat blurred because the virus is spinning. :^) (yes, it's a joke)

Thanks for tunin' in !
