What is BetaWare?
Think of BetaWare as a software prototype. Wherein the product (software package) is not quite ready for distribution on the market. A Beta version is essentially a "field test" to help the software engineers work out the bugs and develop the user interface.
There is commonly an online location that you the "Beta Tester" can give feedback to the software company. This feedback is refered to as a "Bug Report".- = BEWARE = -
BetaWare can crash your system. You proceed at your own risk. Make sure you have a backup system in place (just in case). Just because you are aware that someone else is running a Beta version without any problem, doesn't mean that you won't.
Feeling risky?
Try out Netscape's new Communicator. It includes Netscape's Navigator 4.0 with a whole new interface. It works great for me (but remember this means nothing...proceed at your own risk). Also check-out CNET which often provides links to beta versions and perhaps a review or two.
